YHA Cheddar is set at the foot of the Mendips and a stone's throw away from Cheddar Gorge. This is a beautiful area of the country with geographic features unlike any other area in the U.K. The hostel itself is a large Victorian House and accompanying annex providing plenty of rooms for families, individuals and groups looking for a short break in the countryside.

Cheddar is a great cycling destination. The undulating hills and valley floors allow any level or type of cyclists to get out on the road. The Somerset flats are perfect for those looking for a gentle afternoon ride in the sunshine, whilst the Mendips provide a more challenging climb.

A visit to the area is of course incomplete without heading out to Cheddar Gorge. Hikers and climbers alike can enjoy the breath taking views on offer. There are a whole host of activities available here from climbing to caving and even a museum about archaeological discoveries made on the site.

If you want to make a real splash, then check out Mendip Outdoor Pursuits. They provide activities such as raft building, kayaking and river trips.

After a busy day of activities there is the option to enjoy a delicious home cooked meal in the hostel's fully licensed restaurant.
